On October 29, a student sports festival titled “Sang vs. Myung Sports Competition” was held at Sangmyung University’s Cheonan Campus.
The event was organized in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the university’s founding and the 88th anniversary of the Sangmyung Educational Foundation.
The sports festival took place at Gyedang Hall on the Cheonan Campus from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Six colleges participated in the competition, divided into two teams — Team Sang and Team Myung. The six colleges included the College of Liberal Studies, College of Global Humanities, College of Design, College of Arts, College of Convergence Technology, and College of Engineering.
Team Sang consisted of the College of Convergence Technology, the College of Design, and the College of Liberal Studies, while Team Myung was composed of the College of Engineering, the College of Arts, and the College of Global Humanities.

The event began at 4 p.m. with an opening address by Oh Se-won, Dean of Academic Affairs. Dean Oh stated, “I am delighted that the fall sports festival, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, is being held again in celebration of the 88th anniversary of the Sangmyung Educational Foundation and the 60th anniversary of our school,” adding, “I hope this sports festival becomes a lively and memorable part of our students’ university experience.”

The official matches then commenced. Starting with basketball, the competition continued with dodgeball and was followed by badminton.During the games, performances by the cheering club Aria and the hip-hop club Crunk Brain further enhanced the festive atmosphere. The event continued with card-flipping, tug-of-war, and relay race competitions. The relay race was held as a single-elimination match. As a result, the Sang team won basketball, dodgeball, the relay race, card-flipping, and badminton, securing the overall victory. The Myung team demonstrated its strength by winning the tug-of-war event.

To prepare for this sports festival, the student council Byeolha organized various activities. They distributed cheering kits containing snacks and cheering bats to help students enjoy the event more fully. After the event, a raffle was held, and prizes such as Outback vouchers, AirPods, and tumblers were awarded. Student council president Lee Dong-hyun shared his thoughts, saying, “It was a meaningful time for students to gather under the name of Sangmyung and engage with one another through friendly competition.”

A member of the Sang team who won the badminton match also commented, “Our team earned a valuable result by finishing as runners-up in the women’s doubles. It was possible thanks to consistent practice and strong teamwork with my club members.” They added, “It felt like campus culture, which had stagnated for a while after COVID-19, has finally regained its energy. I enjoyed being able to laugh and spend time with fellow students while participating in various events beyond badminton.”

This event served not only as a simple sports competition but also as an opportunity to strengthen the unity and pride of the Sangmyung community. It reaffirmed the importance of communication and harmony among its members, and it is hoped that the festival will continue to develop into one of Sangmyung University’s signature traditions.
